# Top 15 best Airwallex alternatives for payouts, international payments, and embedded finance

*Short on time? Whop is the strongest all-around pick: payment acceptance, payouts, and platform infrastructure in one place, for businesses of any size. Stripe and Adyen are the next-best options specifically for large-scale enterprise platform builds, Wise leads on FX and accounts, and Ramp leads on spend management.*

Airwallex has become the go-to for businesses moving money across borders, and it's pretty easy to see why. Accounts, FX, payments, cards, payouts are all bundled into one platform. For a lot of companies, that's enough.

But that range, while impressive, doesn't guarantee it's the best fit for your business *specifically*.

The right tool comes down to which part of the stack matters most to your use case: a simple multi-currency account, sharper FX pricing, payments and payouts built for marketplaces, or spend management with tighter controls.

Here's what Airwallex does well, and the best alternative for wherever your business is at.

## What Airwallex does well

Airwallex serves more than 676,000 businesses worldwide (either directly or through its platform customers) and has earned its reputation for a reason. It's built to give businesses a single platform for moving, holding, and spending money internationally, covering a very wide range of the payment stack.

Here’s why businesses choose Airwallex:

### Multi-currency accounts and local receiving details

![airwallex global](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/airwallex-globa.png)

Airwallex's whole pitch is turning a [borderless business](https://whop.com/blog/cross-border-payments/) into one that still feels local everywhere it operates. Businesses can hold balances in a wide range of currencies and receive money using local account details in dozens of markets, instead of relying on international wire transfers.

### Currency conversion and FX

Conversion and FX fees can be a revenue *killer*. Airwallex offers interbank-based FX pricing, with the final rate and fees depending on the currency pair, market and customer plan.

### Payment acceptance

![airwallex pay](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/airwallex-pay.png)

Forcing every customer through the same checkout, regardless of where they're buying from, is an easy way to lose sales. Airwallex supports a broad range of local [payment methods](https://whop.com/blog/international-payment-methods/), so businesses can accept customer payments in a way that feels native (aka trustworthy) to each market instead.

### Global payouts

Paying one contractor overseas is annoying. Paying two thousand sellers across a dozen countries? That’s a whole mess – *unless the infrastructure is built for it*. Airwallex's global payout system is designed to handle that kind of scale, whether you're paying sellers, contractors, partners, or creators.

### Corporate cards and spend management

![airwallex cards](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/airwallex-cards-1.png)

Long gone are the days of spreadsheets and shared corporate cards. Airwallex issues virtual and physical corporate cards with built-in spend controls, alongside expense management, bill pay, and purchase orders, giving finance teams visibility across entities and currencies from one dashboard.

### Embedded finance for platforms

For platforms and marketplaces specifically, Airwallex allows accounts, payments, and card products to be [embedded](https://whop.com/blog/embedded-payments/) directly into their own product.

## So why do businesses look for an Airwallex alternative?

Sometimes businesses need something specific that Airwallex doesn't cover. Sometimes it's cost. And other times it's the opposite problem: too much platform for what they actually need.

For some businesses, it's simple: Airwallex isn't supported in their country yet. Airwallex can currently only onboard businesses registered in a specific list of countries.

While that covers most of North America, Western Europe, and key APAC markets, it leaves out large parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America outside Brazil, Mexico, and Costa Rica, along with Russia and Belarus.

Others want infrastructure built specifically for the kind of platform they're running (a marketplace, a creator business, a membership site) rather than general-purpose payments tooling that works for anyone.

Then there are businesses that want something more fundamental: a traditional banking relationship rather than a fintech platform.

## Top 15 Airwallex alternatives

Every provider below, apart from the number one pick, is grouped by category, so you can jump straight to whichever part of Airwallex's stack you're replacing.

### Whop: the number one Airwallex alternative

**Best for:** Payment acceptance, platform infrastructure, global payouts, and spend management, all in one place, for businesses of any size.

![Video thumbnail](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/runs-on-whop_thumb.jpg)
[Watch video](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/runs-on-whop.mp4)

Whop's checkout supports 100+ local payment methods shown automatically based on the customer's location, plus BNPL and smart payment routing with automatic retries on failure.

Fraud and compliance tooling is built in, with [Whop Risk Scores](https://whop.com/blog/risk-scores/) rating every transaction and buyer, and configurable [3D Secure](https://whop.com/blog/whop-3d-secure/) for purchases over $1,000.

Payment acceptance and platform infrastructure can also be embedded directly into another product entirely, rather than redirecting customers elsewhere.

Whop pays users out in 180+ countries with instant withdrawals and built-in KYC and tax compliance, [issues custom-branded cards](https://whop.com/blog/virtual-card-issuing/) spendable anywhere Visa is accepted, and handles invoicing and spend management from the same dashboard.

**TL;DR:** Whop suits businesses that want payment acceptance, payouts, and spend infrastructure that's genuinely embeddable into another product, not just usable through a standalone dashboard.

***Full alternative:**** the only option on this list covering payment acceptance, platform infrastructure, payouts, and spend management at once. *

### Payment acceptance & platform infrastructure

This category is for businesses building their *own* platform or marketplace. Connected accounts for onboarding sellers, split payments, [payouts](https://whop.com/blog/watch/embed-payouts/), and the developer infrastructure to run all of it at scale.

If you're not building a platform, these probably aren’t for you.

#### Stripe

**Best for:** Developer-led payment acceptance and marketplace infrastructure.

![Video thumbnail](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/stripe-homepage_thumb.jpg)
[Watch video](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/stripe-homepage.mp4)

[Stripe Connect](https://whop.com/blog/stripe-connect/) is the industry reference point for platform payments, powering more than 16,000 platforms and marketplaces, including Shopify and DoorDash.

Where Airwallex bundles payments and accounts into one suite, Stripe is more modular: Connect handles onboarding, split payments, and payouts, while Treasury for platforms goes a layer further, giving sellers an actual FDIC-insured balance to hold funds in and spend from (available in fewer countries than Airwallex's accounts, and priced custom rather than published).

Where Stripe pulls ahead of Airwallex is in developer experience. Stripe has one of the largest and most established developer ecosystems in the category.

Stripe suits platforms with engineering resources who care more about payment infrastructure than a ready-made account. It's the wrong call for non-technical businesses wanting somewhere to simply hold and move money.

***Partial alternative:**** strong on payments and platform infrastructure, but Stripe is not a like-for-like replacement for Airwallex’s standalone Global Accounts and business FX experience.*

#### Adyen

**Best for:** Enterprise platforms wanting payments, embedded accounts, and card issuing in one bank-backed system.

![adyen for platforms](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/adyen-for-platforms.png)

[Adyen](https://whop.com/blog/adyen-payments/) for Platforms offers payments, embedded accounts, card issuing (Adyen Issuing), and financing (Capital), all built on its own banking licenses across the US, UK, and EU rather than third-party bank partners.

That's a closer match to Airwallex's all-in-one philosophy than most on this list, with Adyen trying to be the full stack, not just the payments layer.

As a result, Adyen works well for larger platforms ready for a full-stack, bank-backed setup and willing to invest in proper implementation. Smaller platforms or businesses wanting fast, self-serve onboarding should look elsewhere.

***Strong partial alternative:**** covers more of Airwallex's account and embedded finance ground than most competitors, but still payments-first rather than accounts-first.*

#### Checkout.com

**Best for:** Large internet businesses needing enterprise-grade payment acceptance and payouts.

![checkout.com](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/image-5-1.png)

[Checkout.com](https://whop.com/blog/checkout-com/) sits in the same enterprise tier as Adyen: payment acceptance, acquiring, card and bank payouts, and card issuing, built for large online businesses moving serious volume. It earns its place here on fraud prevention and payment optimization, with AI-powered acceptance tools and fraud detection tuned for scale.

It does have a multi-currency account (Checkout Business Account) and also offers treasury and FX capabilities, but both live inside the Checkout.com processing ecosystem rather than as standalone products, you can't open one independently the way you can with Airwallex. There's also no self-serve, published pricing; everything runs through enterprise sales.

Checkout.com suits large ecommerce businesses and high-volume platforms that have outgrown a general-purpose processor, not smaller businesses wanting a basic account or transparent pricing.

***Partial alternative:**** strong on payments and payouts; its account and FX tools are processing-linked, not standalone like Airwallex's.*

> 💡

#### Rapyd

**Best for:** Platforms wanting modular, mix-and-match fintech infrastructure.

![rapyd homepage](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/rapyd.png)

Rapyd is the most modular option in this category: Collect (acceptance), Disburse (payouts), Wallet (white-label balances), and Issuing (cards) can be used together or independently, which makes it a flexible way to replace several Airwallex products at once without committing to all of them.

Rapyd supports payment collection across a broad international network, alongside card payouts to more than 190 countries (reach that holds up well against Airwallex's own).

Where it differs from Airwallex is onboarding: Rapyd publishes its interchange and scheme fees under Interchange++ pricing, but getting set up on Collect or Disburse requires talking to Rapyd's team, unlike Airwallex's self-serve signup with published plan tiers.

As a result, Rapyd suits marketplaces, SaaS platforms, and fintechs that want to mix and match fintech infrastructure rather than buy a single bundle. But it's the wrong choice for small businesses that just need a business account and occasional transfers.

***Partial alternative:**** strong across payments, payouts, and embedded wallets, but not an account replacement.*

#### Worldpay for Platforms

**Best for:** Vertical SaaS platforms embedding payments and financial services for their own merchants.

![worldpay](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/worldpay.png)

Formerly Payrix, Worldpay for Platforms is built for vertical SaaS companies embedding payments into their own product.

Software companies choose how deep they want to go: a referral model hands off payments to Worldpay in exchange for a revenue share, [PayFac-as-a-Service](https://whop.com/blog/what-is-a-payfac/) lets platforms brand and control the payment experience while Worldpay handles underwriting and compliance behind the scenes, and full payment facilitation means the platform becomes its own licensed payment company, owning the entire stack.

It also offers embedded finance beyond payments: working capital, business banking accounts, and cards for a platform's merchants, positioned explicitly as helping software companies 'become the everything platform" for their users' financial needs.

This is built specifically for software platforms whose own customers are businesses that need to get paid, like a scheduling app used by gyms, a CRM used by contractors, and so on. If you're a business accepting payments for yourself rather than embedding payments for other businesses that use your software, this isn't the right fit.

***Partial alternative:**** covers payments, financing, accounts, and card issuance for platforms with a merchant base; not built for a business without merchants beneath it.*

#### PayPal Enterprise Payments

**Best for:** Platforms wanting proven checkout conversion combined with global seller payouts.

![paypal enterprise payments](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/paypal-enterprise.png)

PayPal Open pulls checkout, payouts, and fraud protection together under one platform: PayPal Enterprise Payments (formerly Braintree) handles checkout and card processing, Enterprise Payouts (formerly Hyperwallet) handles paying sellers, contractors, and marketplace participants, and payment orchestration and fraud protection sit alongside both.

Together they cover a lot of the same ground as Airwallex's payments-and-payouts combination, backed by a checkout brand most customers already know and trust, plus payouts reaching 200+ markets and 50+ currencies.

PayPal also explicitly supports multi-processor setups. You can add it alongside an existing processor rather than switching entirely, which gives platforms flexibility Airwallex's more all-in-one approach doesn't emphasize in the same way.

Proven checkout conversion plus real global payout reach, now under one platform rather than several disconnected tools is PayPal Open's strength.

***Partial alternative:**** checkout, payouts, and orchestration covered well under one platform.*

### Multi-currency accounts, FX & international transfers

Selling on someone else's platform, or simply moving money across borders without needing platform infrastructure of your own? That’s what this group solves with accounts in multiple currencies, sharper FX rates, and international transfer.

*Head’s up: two providers here, WorldFirst and Payoneer, are also strong for marketplace sellers specifically: think Amazon or Etsy sellers getting paid, not platforms paying out their own sellers.*

#### Wise

**Best for:** Transparent, low-cost international transfers and FX.

![wise](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/wise.png)

[Wise's](https://whop.com/blog/wise-review/) whole pitch is cost transparency: mid-market exchange rates with fees shown upfront from as little as 0.57%, wire transfers from as low as $1.13, no markup hidden in the rate itself. It holds 40+ currencies, offers local account details in a smaller set of markets than Airwallex, and doesn't charge a recurring monthly fee.

Wise Platform extends this into card issuing and spend management, alongside send, receive, and multi-currency accounts – built for banks, marketplaces, travel platforms, and workforce platforms to embed. It's a more focused product set than Airwallex's broader platform suite, but it does cover the same core categories: payments, cards, and spend.

***Partial alternative:**** strong on accounts, FX, and transfer transparency, with a more compact but real platform and spend offering.*

#### WorldFirst

**Best for:** Ecommerce and marketplace sellers managing income from multiple platforms.

![Video thumbnail](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/worldfirst_thumb.jpg)
[Watch video](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/worldfirst.mp4)

WorldFirst earns its place here through its marketplace depth as an official Amazon Payment Service Provider Programme partner. WorldFirst collects payments from 130+ marketplaces including Amazon and TikTok Shop, and holds 20+ currencies with no monthly fee.

For a marketplace seller specifically, this is arguably a closer fit than Airwallex, which wasn't built around marketplace collection the way WorldFirst was.

The trade-off depends on which tier you're looking at. WorldFirst's self-serve World Account is built for marketplace sellers and SMBs, with no dedicated invoicing tools (it leans on Xero and QuickBooks instead). But WorldFirst also has a separate Enterprise tier (Global Checkout, Real-time Treasury, Embedded Finance) aimed at SaaS platforms and financial institutions, which overlaps more with Airwallex.

***Partial alternative:**** excellent for marketplace sellers specifically*

#### Revolut

**Best for:** Everyday multi-currency banking with strong day-to-day expense tools.

![revolut](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/revolut.png)

Revolut holds 25+ currencies at interbank rates (within plan allowances), and its card and expense management tooling (approval workflows, receipt capture, real-time spend controls) is pretty competitive with dedicated spend platforms. It also lets businesses accept card payments directly, through Revolut Reader, Payment Links, Revolut Pay, and point-of-sale, so it's not purely an accounts-and-FX product anymore.

One real point of difference is Revolut’s banking footprint. It now holds full banking licences in markets including the UK and EEA, where eligible deposits can receive statutory deposit protection.

Where it still falls short of Airwallex is platform infrastructure. There's no way to onboard third-party sellers as connected accounts, and no split payments between a platform and the people selling on it. Revolut is built for a business managing and accepting its own payments, not for a platform paying out other businesses on its behalf.

***Partial alternative:**** strong accounts, FX, spend management, and now payment acceptance; no platform or embedded finance layer.*

> 💡

#### Payoneer

**Best for:** Marketplace sellers, freelancers, and global service businesses getting paid from multiple sources.

![Video thumbnail](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/pay_thumb.jpg)
[Watch video](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/pay.mp4)

Payoneer's marketplace integrations are its strongest pull, with direct integrations with major marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, plus a Mass Payouts API for platforms sending bulk international payments.

For freelancers and marketplace-native businesses specifically, this is more purpose-built than Airwallex's general payments infrastructure.

The gap versus Airwallex is not that Payoneer lacks platform infrastructure altogether. It’s that Payoneer is more heavily focused on payee onboarding, marketplace collections, and global payouts. It does not match Airwallex's connected-account architecture: Payoneer invites each seller to their own independent account rather than creating sub-accounts under the platform's umbrella.

***Partial alternative:**** strong for marketplace sellers and freelancers, not a platform infrastructure replacement.*

#### OFX

**Best for:** Businesses with currency exposure who need to manage FX risk.

![ofx ](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/image-7-1.png)

OFX's clearest differentiator is that its Forward Contracts and Limit Orders let businesses plan conversions ahead of time, target a preferred exchange rate, or reduce their exposure to future currency movements.

Airwallex now offers its own currency-risk tools, including limit orders, rate locking, future-dated settlement, and Transactional FX infrastructure.

The distinction is therefore less about whether the tools *exist* and more about each provider’s *focus*: OFX is an FX specialist, while Airwallex incorporates FX into a broader accounts, payments, spend, and embedded-finance platform.

OFX pairs that with 30+ currencies, corporate cards, batch payments, and AI-assisted accounts payable automation.

The downside? Scope. OFX's Global Business Account offers local account details in just 4 currencies (USD, CAD, EUR, GBP), a smaller footprint than Airwallex's account coverage, and there's no equivalent to Airwallex's platform or embedded finance tools.

***Partial alternative:**** a strong choice for specialist FX management and international transfers, but narrower than Airwallex across payments, accounts, and platform infrastructure.*

### Embedded finance & banking infrastructure

Becoming a financial platform, not just using one, is the goal for businesses in this category. Embedding accounts, ledgers, or banking-as-a-service directly into your own product so your customers do not see the infrastructure underneath.

Built for fintechs, internet platforms, and software companies with the engineering resources to implement it at scale.

#### Nium

**Best for:** Fintechs and platforms needing real-time global payouts and card issuance at scale.

![nium dashboard](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/nium-dashboard.png)

Nium's core strength is reach and speed: payouts to 190+ countries, with real-time delivery available across a substantial part of its network, FX execution across 125+ currencies and physical and virtual card issuing in 30+ markets.

Nium operates through a global regulatory footprint of more than 40 licences, authorizations and registrations.

Where it stands apart from Airwallex is settlement speed and rate transparency. Nium publishes live FX rates and a rate calculator so businesses can see the markup against interbank directly.

The trade-off is that Nium is infrastructure, not an out-of-the-box account: it's built for banks, platforms, and payroll providers to embed, not for a business wanting to log into a dashboard and go.

***Partial alternative:**** best-in-class for embedded payouts, FX, and card issuance; not a self-serve business account replacement.*

#### OpenPayd

**Best for:** Platforms wanting named, client-specific multi-currency accounts and virtual IBANs.

![openpayd](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/images/2026/08/openpayd.png)

OpenPayd's multi-currency accounts cover 35+ currencies. Businesses can allocate a virtual IBAN to every customer in each currency, with no limit on how many they create, removing reconciliation pain that comes from pooling multiple customers' funds into one account.

Everything runs through a single developer-friendly API, with accounts opened or updated via dashboard or automated through the API directly.

OpenPayd's regulated presence centers on the UK and Europe, with its own treasury tooling specifically highlighting instant FX settlement across these territories.

***Partial alternative:**** strong on embeddable multi-currency accounts and FX settlement; regulated presence centered on the UK and EU, infrastructure-first, rather than a self-serve business account designed for non-technical teams.*

### Spend management & finance automation

For keeping track of where the money goes once it's in the building is the job. Corporate cards, spend controls, approval workflows, and procurement, built for finance teams who've outgrown a shared card and a spreadsheet.

#### Ramp

**Best for:** US finance teams wanting a dedicated spend management and procurement platform.

![Video thumbnail](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/ramp_thumb.jpg)
[Watch video](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/08/ramp.mp4)

Ramp's breadth is genuinely wide: corporate cards, expense management, AP automation, procurement with three-way matching, travel booking, and treasury tools for idle cash, all under one roof. The core card and expense platform is free, with Ramp Plus unlocking multi-entity management, custom procurement approvals, and multi-currency bill payments.

Where it differs from Airwallex is scope and reach. Ramp is built primarily for eligible US businesses that want finance automation, procurement, and spend management.

Airwallex, by comparison, focuses on global accounts, FX, international payments, and embedded financial infrastructure, making it a stronger fit for businesses operating across multiple markets.

***Partial alternative: ****the deepest procurement and finance-automation tooling on this list, but US-entity-focused and not a payments or accounts replacement.*

## Whop: where the internet does business

Airwallex earns its reputation, with accounts, FX, payments, payouts, cards, invoicing, and its own API all under one roof. For a business that wants that full stack, it's a strong, capable choice.

But if what you're actually after is payment acceptance, payouts, and spend infrastructure that works for a business of any size, and embeds directly into whatever you're building, you need Whop.

## Airwallex alternatives FAQs

### What are the alternatives to Airwallex?

The best Airwallex alternative depends on which part of its stack you're replacing. Whop is the strongest all-around option, covering payment acceptance, payouts, and spend infrastructure for businesses of any size. Stripe and Adyen suit large-scale platform builds, and Wise is the top pick for accounts and FX.

### Alternatives to Airwallex for business banking
