# Tech for tradespeople: this home remodeling business accepts payments with Whop

Daniel Petrovskiy was mixing cement before he could even lift the bucket.

He was seven years old, and his father ran a high-end deck waterproofing crew in Portland. Daniel would show up to job sites and stand there with a hammer, waiting to be asked to chip in.

*"I didn't work for money. I worked for food,"* he says. *"I was so young, I'm barely holding on to the drill. I'm almost swinging with it half the time."*

Sixteen years later, Daniel owns Pinnacle North West Kitchen & Bath. While the trade hasn't changed much in a century, how he runs it has.

Here’s how Pinnacle North West runs on Whop.

## Blue collar, all the way down

Petrovskiy family blood runs blue. Every branch of Daniel's family tree runs a trade business: finished carpentry, custom home building, commercial demolition. Daniel got his first paid job at Wendy's at 15, and *officially* started construction at 15, too.

His first real trade was commercial demolition. Jobs like gutting schools: ripping out carpet, tearing down cabinets, cutting into concrete to open up walls. He was too young to legally run the heavier machinery, so mostly he labored, though he says: *"but maybe when some people weren't looking, I'd test some things."*

But his heart wasn't in tearing things down. He wanted to create.

*"I thought to myself, I'm going to go build stuff instead of destroying it and having other people build it. I liked the building portion of it a lot more."*

So he left, and started Pinnacle North West. As of this interview, the business is exactly one year old.

## A young man in an age-old trade

Pinnacle NW does kitchen and bathroom remodels, custom countertops and cabinetry, decks, and finish carpentry across the Portland metro area.

Despite *years* of experience, Daniel still gets doubted. He's 23, nearly half the median construction worker age of 42. Most new clients don't even clock him as the business owner at first.

*"I don't present myself by saying, 'Hi, I'm the owner.' I just talk to them, get to know them," *Daniel says. *"A lot of time they question my experience, saying You’re young, 'what do you know?'"*

So he dresses well, walks clients through what the job actually involves, and lets the inevitable questions come. The one he gets most: *how many bathrooms have you done?*

The answer? Over 300. That’s a **lot** of bathrooms.

Daniel's part of a bigger shift. A 2025 survey from Resume Builder found 42% of Gen Z workers are now working in or actively pursuing a blue-collar or skilled trade job, and more than a third of them are college graduates who chose the trades anyway.

Why? Well, for a lot of Gen Z, it’s all because of TikTok. Tradespeople showing off satisfying before-and-after shots (and big paychecks) have made the whole industry look more plan a than plan b.

Six-figure income, no student debt, no boss. Who wouldn't want to give it a shot?

But being part of a trend doesn't make you exempt from skepticism. Daniel knows that his trade skills are on point, but this is only half of the battle.

The other half is the back office, and he takes this just as seriously as the hands-on work.

## The tech stack behind the trade

Pinnacle NW runs two very different schedules at once. Daniel does commercial finish carpentry (overnight work, 5 p.m. to 4 a.m.), with paperwork handled during the day. Residential jobs run the opposite way: daytime labor, paperwork at night.

*"I always carry my laptop everywhere,"* he says. *"If there's traffic, I stop by Starbucks, start doing paperwork."* Throughout the day, he uses AI to run through his own checklists on what materials are needed, what's outstanding, what's next.

For Daniel, time spent chasing a payment is time not spent on a job site, so payments need to move fast.

Before Whop, Daniel ran his invoicing through an accounting platform. He was not a fan (and that’s putting it lightly).

*"I hate it with the biggest passion in the world,*" he says. *"It's super slow. It has way too much stuff on there. I was always having to figure it out."*

Whop replaced that.

## How Whop works for blue-collar businesses

Here's how Whop powers Pinnacle North West.

### Automated invoicing

Daniel sends an [invoice](https://whop.com/blog/whop-invoices/) with a due date, a description of the work, and a choice of how the client pays: card, ACH, or a handful of other methods. If they're slow to pay, Whop follows up automatically, so Daniel doesn't have to be the one chasing it.

*"It's been super simple to send an invoice,"* he says. *"It gets paid, and it's just as simple to transfer it."*

### Checkout links

Deposits and change orders on smaller jobs go out as [checkout links](https://whop.com/blog/create-checkout-links-whop/). Daniel sends one, the client pays, the money moves.

*"Any change orders, anything quick, it's always through Whop,"* he says. *"If they just need to put a card down, that's the most convenient way for them to pay."*

### On-site payment acceptance

And on-site, [Tap to Pay on iPhone means](https://whop.com/blog/tap-to-pay-on-iphone/) he could take a card payment standing in someone's kitchen, no separate terminal required.

### Financing options

[Whop's financing options](https://whop.com/blog/buy-now-pay-later-on-whop/) have also become a huge trust signal. Clients don't always use it (most still pay outright) but Daniel's noticed they like knowing it's there.

*"It solidifies the company a little bit more," *he says. *"When you have something fast and easy to go through, people appreciate that. They don't want to be on their phone trying to figure out how to pay something."*

Through Whop, Daniel can offer multiple buy-now-pay-later options. A client can split a bigger job into installments through providers like Klarna or Afterpay, while Daniel still gets paid in full upfront.

*“The simplicity of how easy it is to pay and get paid is huge."*

### Whop Ads

Outside of payment acceptance and invoicing, Daniel will be using Whop Ads to grow his business.

![Video thumbnail](https://storage.ghost.io/c/12/7b/127b828b-bdc2-4972-9cf2-de857df9c324/content/media/2026/07/whop-ads_thumb.jpg)

Whop Ads makes enterprise-grade advertising tooling accessible to everyone. Daniel pays for ad spend from the same dashboard he already uses for payments.

## Tradespeople can now scale like enterprises

Working a trade is hard enough. The technology powering it should be the easy part.

Whop is an end-to-end technology platform for running a business – financing, invoicing, checkout links, ads, virtual card issuing, all from one dashboard.

Those in traditional professions tend to stick with what they know, even when it's slowing them down. Daniel does the opposite.

Spend more time on-site, less time doing the paperwork.
