How to Use This Book
This devotional was written for one kind of person: a PhD scholar who is brilliant, called, and struggling — not because they lack intelligence, but because no one ever trained them to think strategically about research production, and no one ever gave them a theological framework for surviving what the training demands of them.
Each of the 30 devotions follows the same structure:
Scripture — The anchor. Read it slowly. Let it land.
Reflection — The truth spoken directly. Bold, prophetic, and honest about what academia actually does to people.
In Your PhD — The practical application. How this truth shows up in your lab, your writing, your advisor relationship.
Prayer — Closing the devotion in conversation with God. Read it as written or let it prompt your own.
The 30 devotions are organized around the five pillars of Kingdom-Minded PhD research:
Module 1 (Days 1–6): Clarify Your Calling
Module 2 (Days 7–12): Roadmap Your Research
Module 3 (Days 13–18): Own the Hidden Curriculum
Module 4 (Days 19–23): Publishing with Purpose
Module 5 (Days 24–30): Navigate Your Next
You can read one devotion a day for 30 days, or work through a module during a particularly hard season in that area. Either way: read with your lab notebook nearby. Truth applied is the only truth that changes things.
