What We Saw in Makause Changed Everything

On March 14th, our team walked into the Makause Informal Settlement in Germiston, South Africa. More than 30,000 people live there — many in homes built from corrugated metal, with limited access to clean water or basic services.

We saw babies sleeping on cold floors with no cots. Children playing soccer on dusty ground with no goals. Families surviving day to day with a kind of resilience most of us will never have to understand.

But we also saw something else. A community that looks after each other. Mothers sharing what little food they have. Neighbors building together. Kids who still laugh, still dream.

The problem isn't a lack of spirit. It's a lack of resources.

That's why CLR Foundation exists. We're not here to fly in, take photos, and leave. We're building long-term programs:

  • 🛏️ Safe sleeping spaces for babies

  • 📚 Educational supplies for children

  • 🛡️ Child protection initiatives against trafficking

  • 🤝 Youth empowerment and digital education

If that resonates with you, consider becoming a monthly supporter. $5/month gets you direct access to impact updates, field reports, and a community of people who care about doing real work.

This isn't charity theater. This is what change looks like up close.
