🏃 3 Cues That Instantly Improve Your Block Start

Most sprinters overthink the block start. Here are 3 simple cues that make an immediate difference:

1. "Push the ground away"

Stop thinking about pulling yourself forward. Think about pushing the blocks BACK and the ground DOWN. Force application is everything in acceleration — you want maximum horizontal force in the first 3 steps.

2. "Patient eyes"

Keep your eyes on the ground 2-3 meters ahead for the first 5 steps. The moment you look up too early, your hips drop, your torso rises, and you lose your acceleration angle. Stay patient.

3. "Piston arms"

Your arms drive your legs. Think short, aggressive arm swings — like pistons firing. Keep your elbows at ~90° and drive them hard. Lazy arms = lazy legs. Every time.

Try these at your next session and tell me what you notice.

🚀 The 0-30 Academy Is LIVE — Here's What's Inside

After years of coaching sprinters and breaking down what actually makes athletes fast out of the blocks, I've packaged everything into one place.

The 0-30 Academy is officially open.

Here's what you get:

🏁 Acceleration Blueprint ($14.99) — The essential guide to sprint acceleration. Block setup, first-step mechanics, shin angles, and the drills that actually transfer to the track. Perfect if you want to study the system before going all in.

🔥 0-30 Domination System ($39) — The full program. 22-lesson video course covering block starts, first 10 steps, force application, drill library, common mistakes, and a complete 4–6 week training plan. Plus access to the Sprint Community where I answer questions and post updates.

This isn't theory from a textbook. It's the same system I used to set a national record.

If you're a sprinter, football player, or any athlete who needs to be faster in the first 30 meters — this is for you.

Drop your questions below. Let's get to work. 👇

The #1 reason you're slow out of the blocks (it's not your reaction time)

Every sprinter I coach thinks their start is slow because of reaction time.

It's not. Your reaction time is probably fine.

The real problem is your first 3 steps. Here's what's happening:

You're popping up too early. Your torso goes vertical by step 2-3 instead of staying at a 45° angle through step 6-8. The moment you stand up, you kill your acceleration. You're basically putting the brakes on while trying to speed up.

How to know if this is you: Film yourself from the side during a block start. Pause at step 3. If your shoulders are behind your hips, you popped up.

The fix: Wall drills. Face a wall at 45°, hands on it, drive one knee up while keeping your body in a straight line from ankle to ear. Hold for 3 seconds. 5 reps each side. This teaches your body what proper acceleration posture FEELS like.

Do this before every sprint session for 2 weeks. Your first 10 meters will feel completely different.

I broke down the full 0-30m acceleration system — block mechanics, shin angles, force application, the whole thing — and built a training program around it. It's designed to drop 0.1-0.3 seconds off your start in 4-6 weeks.

If you're a track athlete, football player, or rugby player who's tired of getting beat in the first 10 meters, check it out.
