Why most guys over 30 stall out on their physique (it's not what you think)

Been coaching men 30-50 for a while now, and the pattern is almost always the same. It's not discipline. It's not genetics. It's one of three things:

1. They're training like they're 22.

Recovery capacity drops as you age, but most guys keep running the same high-volume program from their 20s. The fix isn't training less — it's training smarter: fewer wasted sets, more intensity where it counts, and recovery treated as part of the program, not an afterthought.

2. They treat nutrition as a diet, not a system.

Diets end. Systems don't. If your "get lean" plan can't survive a business trip, a birthday party, or a bad week at work, it's not a real plan — it's a countdown to giving up.

3. They're optimizing for the mirror, not for how they feel.

The guys who actually stick with it long-term are the ones chasing energy, sleep, and strength first. The physique is a byproduct, not a target. Chase the target and you'll quit in 6 weeks. Chase the byproduct and you'll still be doing it in 3 years.

If any of that sounds familiar — you're not broken, your approach just needs a rebuild. Happy to answer questions below.
