The Study Method That Got Me Through Organic Chemistry

Most students study wrong. They re-read textbooks, highlight everything, and pray it sticks. It doesn't.

Here's the framework that actually works for high-stakes exams like the MCAT, LSAT, and brutal undergrad courses:

1. Active Recall > Passive Review

Close the textbook. Write down everything you remember about the topic. The gaps you find? That's what you actually need to study. Reading gives you the illusion of knowledge. Recall builds the real thing.

2. Spaced Repetition

Review material at increasing intervals — Day 1, Day 3, Day 7, Day 14. Your brain consolidates memories during the gaps. Cramming the night before is throwing money away.

3. Practice Under Pressure

Do practice problems under timed conditions. The MCAT doesn't care if you "kind of know" something. You need to retrieve it fast, under stress. Simulate that environment early and often.

4. Teach It Back

If you can't explain a concept to someone who knows nothing about it, you don't understand it well enough. Find a study partner or just talk to a wall. Seriously.

This is exactly the kind of material we break down inside AceNotes Academy — detailed study guides, exam-specific strategies, and a community of pre-med and pre-law students all pushing each other to score higher.

Stop studying harder. Start studying smarter.
