5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started Dancing

I spent years watching other people dance and thinking "I could never do that." Then I actually tried.

Here's what I learned the hard way so you don't have to:

1. Nobody is watching you as much as you think.

Everyone in a dance class is focused on their own feet. Literally nobody is judging you.

2. Rhythm is a skill, not a talent.

If you can clap on beat, you can dance. If you can't clap on beat yet — that's literally lesson one.

3. Your body already knows how to move.

Walking is movement. Nodding your head is movement. Dancing is just doing that more intentionally.

4. The first 10 minutes are always awkward.

Every single time. Even for pros. You warm up and then it clicks.

5. Consistency beats intensity.

15 minutes a day beats a 3-hour session once a month. Your muscles need repetition, not marathons.

If any of this hits home, I built First Steps Dance specifically for people who want to start from absolute zero. Basic and advanced courses, community chat, and zero judgment.
