The 3-pass cull that gets wedding photographers to bed before 1am

Most wedding photographers don't burn out from shooting. They burn out from the 4,000-image dump waiting on the card.

If you try to "just edit as you go," you never finish. If you try to cull once, perfectly, you freeze. Use three fast passes instead.

Pass 1 — blink (20 min)

Full-screen, no zoom. Delete only the obvious: blinks, misses, duplicates, the ones you'd never show. Don't debate. If you hesitate, it stays.

Pass 2 — story (30 min)

Now you're choosing the wedding, not the pixel. First look. Ceremony. Family. Dance. Details. Keep the frames that move the story. Kill the rest even if they're sharp.

Pass 3 — grade, don't tinker

Sync a grade across the keepers. Fix exposure on the problem 5%. Stop. Delivery beats a "perfect" gallery that ships two weeks late.

The photographers who scale aren't the ones with the best Lightroom skills. They're the ones who stop treating culling like art and start treating it like a system.

If you'd rather not run this system yourself every Sunday, that's what After Shot is for.
