The one-change rule I wish someone had given me at 47

Most menopause advice is a shopping list. Cut caffeine, alcohol, spice, sugar, stress, screens, and also start strength training, also buy new sheets, also consider HRT, also don't consider HRT until you've read 40 comment threads.

Nobody does a list like that. Then they decide they "failed menopause."

Here is the rule that actually moved the needle for the women I wrote this for:

Change one thing. Count the flashes. Keep it only if the count drops.

Not vibes. A tally.

Day 1 is just a log: time, what you just ate or drank, intensity 1–5. No improvements. Women are often shocked it is 3pm coffee, or the glass of wine, or a bedroom that is two degrees too proud of itself — not "hormones in general."

Then you test one lever a day. Caffeine cutoff. Alcohol off for one night. Water before 3pm. Protein at lunch. Spice out. Room cooler. A 20-minute wind-down. Layers instead of one thick jumper.

At the end you keep three rules. Not fourteen. Three.

If you are 40–55 and hot flashes or night sweats are running the evening, that is the whole method. I put it in a 14-day protocol so you are not collecting advice in a screenshot folder you will never open.

Lifestyle, not a prescription. If symptoms are sudden or severe, see your clinician first.
