I see this constantly: someone builds a genuinely useful digital product ā a template system, a niche course, a tool ā and then prices it at $17 because they're scared nobody will pay more.
Here's the problem: price is a signal. A $17 product signals "low effort, low trust, figure it out yourself." A $500 product signals "this actually solves my problem and I'll get support doing it."
The fix isn't just raising the number. It's three things:
Sell the outcome, not the content. Nobody pays $500 for "12 video lessons." They pay $500 to go from stuck to solved. Rewrite every bullet point on your sales page around outcomes.
Add access, not just information. A community or chat where buyers can ask questions turns a static product into an ongoing relationship ā which justifies a premium price and kills refund requests.
Validate before you build the whole thing. Get 5-10 people to commit money (even a deposit) before you finish the product. If nobody will pay, no amount of content will fix that.
We just rebuilt our whole program around this ā teaching people to build and price digital products properly instead of racing to the bottom. Happy to answer questions if anyone's working on their own product right now.
Most "make money with AI" content is the same recycled screenshot of a ChatGPT prompt. Here's what actually moved the needle for me and the people I work with:
1. Pick ONE narrow service, not a general skill. "AI content creation" is too broad. "Turning long-form YouTube transcripts into 10 short-form clips using AI" is a service you can sell to a specific buyer by Friday.
2. Automate the boring 80%, keep the human 20%. Clients don't pay for AI output ā they pay for judgment on top of it. The winning workflow is: AI drafts, you edit, you deliver. Skip the editing step and your work reads like everyone else's.
3. Distribution beats tooling every time. Nobody's stuck because they lack the right AI tool. They're stuck because they have no one to sell to. Spend more time in DMs and comment sections than in your prompt library.
4. Track one number: hours saved per client, not "AI usage." That's the number that gets you referred and re-hired.
I started documenting these workflows because I was tired of watching people burn months tool-hopping. If you want the actual playbooks (not vibes), that's what I'm building over at AI Hustle Lab. Happy to answer questions here either way.
