The 3 signals I check before flipping any digital product
Most people who try product arbitrage fail because they pick products based on gut feeling instead of data. Here's the framework I use to evaluate every opportunity:
1. Search velocity — Is demand for this product accelerating or just stable? A product that's been "popular" for 6 months is already late. I look for 30-50% week-over-week search growth as a minimum.
2. Competition density — How many sellers are already in the space? If the top 10 results are all established sellers with reviews, the margin is already compressed. I want to see gaps — new categories where only 2-3 sellers exist.
3. Margin floor — After platform fees, sourcing cost, and your time, is there at least 40% margin left? Anything below that, you're one price drop away from breaking even.
Most flippers only look at signal #1 and wonder why they can't make consistent money. The magic is in the intersection of all three.
This is exactly what I built TrendFlip to do — AI-powered signals that score every opportunity across these three dimensions so you can skip the research and go straight to execution.
