Say what the AI did, or buyers will assume the worst
Platforms stopped treating AI disclosure as optional. Meta, TikTok, and YouTube all require labels on realistic AI video and audio. New York already requires synthetic-performer disclosure in ads. California's rule starts in January 2027. The EU's transparency rules have been in force since August.
Buyers noticed before the laws did. In a 2026 Gartner survey, 35% of people said they rely on influencers less because of AI. 43% said they lean harder on real people. Virtual presenters can look novel. They still lose on credibility and purchase intent.
If you sell digital products with AI, this is not a reason to hide the tools. It is a reason to stop pretending the product is a faceless magic file. Put a human in the loop, say what AI did, and show the part you checked by hand.
A simple rule for this week: every sales page, listing, and promo clip gets one honest line. What the AI generated. What you edited. What the buyer can expect if they follow it.
If your offer cannot survive that sentence, the product is not ready. The label is doing you a favor.
What would you put in that one-line disclosure for the product you are selling right now?
