šŸ“Š This Week's Market Outlook — What We're Watching

The market is giving us some interesting setups heading into this week. Here's a quick breakdown of what's on our radar:

šŸ”‘ Key Levels to Watch:

• SPY holding above the 20-day EMA — bullish structure intact

• QQQ testing resistance at recent highs — breakout or rejection?

• VIX sitting near lows — low volatility = potential for a big move

šŸ“ˆ Sectors We're Eyeing:

• Tech continues to lead — watch for momentum plays on pullbacks

• Energy showing strength — could be setting up for a swing trade

šŸ’” Beginner Tip of the Week:

Never risk more than 1-2% of your account on a single trade. Capital preservation is the #1 skill that separates profitable traders from everyone else.

Why most beginner traders lose money on options (and how to fix it)

Most people jump into options because they see someone on Twitter turn $500 into $50k. What they don't see is the 99 accounts that went to zero.

Here's the reality: options trading isn't gambling if you treat it like a skill.

The difference between traders who make it and traders who blow up comes down to 3 things:

1. They have a system

Not a "feeling" — an actual repeatable process. Entry criteria, exit criteria, position size. Every single time.

2. They manage risk first

Profit is what happens when you stop losing money on bad trades. The best traders I know spend more time thinking about what could go wrong than what could go right.

3. They learn from every trade

Win or lose, they journal it. What was the thesis? What happened? What would they do differently? This is how you compress years of learning into months.

At Alpha Desk, we post daily signals with full breakdowns — not just "buy this call." Every alert comes with the reasoning so you build real skill, not just copy trades.

The 3 options mistakes that cost beginners the most money

I've been trading options for years and I see the same 3 mistakes wipe out beginners over and over:

1. Buying weeklies on hype stocks

Theta eats you alive. That 0DTE call on NVDA might feel exciting, but the odds are stacked against you. If you're new, stick to 30-45 DTE minimum. Give your thesis time to play out.

2. Not understanding IV crush

Buying calls before earnings because you think the stock will "moon"? Even if you're right on direction, IV collapse after the announcement can still make your contract lose value. Learn what implied volatility is before you trade around catalysts.

3. No position sizing

Risking 50% of your account on a single trade isn't bold — it's reckless. Keep each position to 2-5% of your portfolio max. You need to survive long enough to get good.

If any of this resonates, Alpha Desk is where I break down setups daily and teach beginners how to actually trade options without blowing up their account. Real signals, real education, no fluff.
