Why most scalp traders blow up on the third winning streak

Spent the last few years running signal alerts for active crypto scalpers, and there's a pattern I keep seeing that has nothing to do with the trades themselves.

Most traders don't blow up on their first loss. They blow up on the trade right after their third or fourth win in a row.

Here's why: after a winning streak, confidence outruns process. Position sizes creep up "just this once," stop-losses get moved "a little," and people start taking setups that don't actually meet their criteria because they feel like they're reading the market well. Then one trade goes against them at 3x their normal size, and a week of gains disappears in an afternoon.

The fix isn't a better indicator. It's mechanical: cap your risk per trade at a fixed %, and treat every signal — win streak or not — with the exact same size. If you want variance, add trades, don't add size.

If you're running scalp setups on crypto and want signals with entries/stop-loss/take-profit built in so you're not making sizing decisions in the heat of the moment, that's literally what I built AlphaSignals for. Happy to answer questions on risk sizing or setups either way.
