The 3 training mistakes killing your athletic performance
Most athletes train hard. Very few train smart. Here's what I see wrong with 90% of athletic training programs:
1. You're training like a bodybuilder, not an athlete.
Bicep curls and leg extensions aren't making you faster or more explosive. Athletes need compound, multi-joint movements that mirror sport demands — cleans, squats, plyometrics, sprints. If your program looks like a magazine workout, it's wrong.
2. You're ignoring the speed-strength continuum.
There's a massive difference between being strong and being powerful. A 500lb squat means nothing if you can't apply force in 0.2 seconds. You need to train across the entire force-velocity curve — max strength, strength-speed, speed-strength, and pure speed. Most athletes only train one end.
3. You're not periodizing.
Training the same way year-round is how you plateau and get hurt. Your off-season, pre-season, and in-season training should look completely different. Each phase builds on the last to peak your performance when it matters.
The fix: Sport-specific programming that addresses all three. That's exactly what Armstrong Coach Pro delivers — structured training blocks with progression models built for competitive athletes.
If you're tired of guessing in the gym and want a real system, this is it.
