Why paper visitor logs fail the first real audit

Most offices still keep a clipboard at reception. It feels fine until someone asks for last Tuesday.

A paper log fails in three predictable ways:

Nobody can read it. Security wants to know who visited. You get a smudge and a first name.

It never gets locked up. Anyone waiting in the lobby can flip back a page and see names, companies, and who they met.

It is not a record. It is a ritual. People skip it when the desk is busy. The days you needed it most are the days it is blank.

If you run a 50–500 person office, you do not need a campus security platform. You need three things: a tablet at the door, a ping to the host, and a log you can export.

That is the whole job.
