How I source products from China for less than most people pay for shipping
Most people who "source from China" are still paying 3-4x more than they need to.
Here's what's actually happening: they're using the same platforms everyone else finds on Google — which means they're hitting middlemen and inflated MOQs.
The real game is direct vendor contact. No platform fee, no aggregator markup, no minimum order gymnastics. Just you and the supplier.
A few things I've learned after building out an actual vendor network:
The best vendors don't have polished English storefronts. If it looks too good, you're paying for someone else's margin.
Response time is everything. A vendor who replies in 2 hours is worth 10x one who takes 3 days.
Always ask for their "internal price" on a second inquiry. First quote is almost never the floor.
Factory contacts and trading company contacts are different. Know which one you're talking to.
We built ArtVends to give people a direct shortcut to this — a curated list of vetted suppliers and vendors, updated regularly, with direct contact info. No fluff, no middlemen.
If you're buying products to resell, dropship, or build a brand — the sourcing edge is where margin lives.
