The mindset gap that keeps most people stuck (and how to close it)
I've coached executives, entrepreneurs, and professional athletes. The #1 thing that separates people who ascend from people who plateau isn't skill. It's not even work ethic.
It's how they respond to friction.
High performers don't avoid hard situations — they've trained themselves to lean into discomfort as a signal that growth is happening. Average performers treat friction as a stop sign. Top performers treat it as a green light.
3 shifts that transform people:
1. Replace "why is this happening to me" with "what is this teaching me"
This isn't toxic positivity. It's a functional reframe that keeps you in problem-solving mode instead of victimhood mode.
2. Stop treating your vision like a destination. Treat it like a compass.
Your vision isn't a finish line — it's a direction. As long as you're moving toward it, you're winning.
3. Build your environment before you need it.
The people around you, the content you consume, the conversations you have — these are inputs. If you're not deliberately engineering your environment, your environment is engineering you.
I built Ascend with Fran Harris for people who are serious about all three.
