3 dribbling mistakes every beginner makes (and how to fix them today)
Most beginners think dribbling is about speed. It's not โ it's about control.
Here are the 3 biggest mistakes I see:
1. Slapping the ball instead of pushing it
Your fingers should guide the ball, not your palm. Think of it like you're pulling the ball back up, not smacking it down. Try this: dribble with just your fingertips for 60 seconds. It'll feel weird at first, but your control will skyrocket.
2. Looking down while dribbling
If you can't dribble without watching the ball, you can't see the court. Start by dribbling against a wall while reading signs or watching TV. Force your eyes up.
3. Only using your dominant hand
You're basically playing with one arm tied behind your back. Spend 5 minutes every day doing basic crossovers, focusing on your weak hand. In 2 weeks you'll feel the difference.
These aren't advanced moves โ they're habits. And habits are built with daily reps, not talent.
I break down drills like this inside my free Basketball Fundamentals community. Come through if you want to actually get better. ๐
