The #1 mistake beginners make when bass fishing (and the easy fix)

I've been fishing bass for years, and I see the same thing at every lake:

New anglers cast to the middle of the water and hope for the best.

Here's the thing — bass don't hang out in open water. They're ambush predators. They sit next to structure — fallen trees, docks, weed edges, rock piles — and wait for prey to swim by.

The fix is simple: Stop casting to nothing. Instead, cast parallel to the bank, keeping your lure within 5 feet of cover. Work every piece of structure you can find.

A $3 plastic worm fished next to a dock will outperform a $15 lure thrown into empty water, every single time.

I put together a complete beginner's guide covering gear, techniques, and seasonal patterns — everything I wish someone had handed me when I started. Check it out if you want to skip the trial-and-error phase.
