5 style rules that changed how I dress at uni
Most guys at uni wear the same rotation of joggers and hoodies. Nothing wrong with that — but if you want to stand out without trying too hard, these five things made the biggest difference for me:
1. One good pair of shoes changes everything. You don't need ten pairs. One clean white trainer and one leather boot covers 90% of situations. Invest once.
2. Fit matters more than brand. A £15 tee that fits properly looks better than a £200 hoodie that's two sizes too big. Get your basics tailored or size down.
3. Neutral colours are your cheat code. Black, white, navy, olive, beige. Mix any of these together and you'll look put together without thinking. Save the loud pieces for accents.
4. Steal from people who dress well. Find 3-4 accounts on Instagram whose style you like. Screenshot outfits. Recreate them with cheaper alternatives. This is how you build taste.
5. Spend money on things that touch your skin. Good cotton, proper wool, quality leather. You'll feel the difference every time you wear it, and they last 3x longer.
I share specific finds and breakdowns every week inside Baxters Club — the stuff that's actually worth buying at prices that won't destroy a student budget.
