The Entertainment Industry Is a $717B Machine — Here's How Black Creatives Can Claim Their Share
The U.S. Media & Entertainment industry is worth $717 billion — that's 6.9% of total GDP. It's growing at 8.9% CAGR through 2030. Music alone is $43B. Gaming hit $160B. Film crossed $91B.
The opportunity is massive. But access isn't evenly distributed.
Most Black professionals in entertainment are navigating the industry without a roadmap — no structured mentorship, no industry connections at scale, no seat at the economic table.
That's exactly why the Black Entertainment Economic Council exists.
We're a membership organization focused on three things:
Workforce development — practical workshops every month covering real trades and crafts in film, TV, music, and gaming
Professional connection — a network of working professionals, students, and Black-owned businesses across every entertainment vertical
Economic advocacy — pushing for sustainable growth and representation in a $717B industry that needs it
Whether you're a film student in Atlanta, a music producer in LA, a game developer in NYC, or a business trying to break into the entertainment supply chain — there's a seat here for you.
We run free workshops on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Our paid membership gets you year-round access to experts, networking, mentorship, and opportunity pipelines.
The industry is growing. The question is whether our community grows with it.
