Quillpad is a desktop notes app in the spirit of Notion and Obsidian — minus the account, the cloud, the database, and the subscription. Notion is $12/month per seat ($432 over 3 years) and Evernote is $14.99/month ($540 over 3 years). Quillpad is $29 once, and your “second brain” is just a folder of real .md files that open in anything, forever.

Built for note-takers, writers, and PKM people who want connected notes without lock-in.

• Point it at any folder — notes are real markdown files, folders are folders; edit them in other apps and Quillpad stays in sync
• Live-styled CodeMirror 6 editor with full preview toggle (Ctrl+E)
• [[Wikilinks]] with fuzzy autocomplete; clicking a missing note creates it
• Backlinks panel showing every linking note with context
• #tags with a clickable sidebar and filtering
• Instant full-text search across the whole vault
• Daily notes (Ctrl+D) and global quick capture (Ctrl+Shift+N from anywhere in Windows → inbox.md)
• Ctrl+P quick switcher, full file management in the sidebar tree

Runs as a Windows desktop app — 100% local, zero network calls.
