Found a way to stop losing bids on used cars/trucks/SUVs — sharing in case it helps other flippers

Been sourcing inventory from dealer, fleet, and private-seller auctions and got tired of missing deals because I couldn't watch every listing in real time. Built/joined a bidder community called BidMotors — live auction feed, real-time bidding, transparent listings, and a private buyer community where people are actually talking deals (not just lurking).

If you're flipping cars for profit and want first look at below-market wholesale inventory, there's a 7-day free trial and a 20% launch discount (code LAUNCH20) for the first few months.

3 things nobody tells you about buying wholesale at auto auction

Spent the last few years sourcing inventory through wholesale auto auctions, and there's a learning curve that costs people real money if they skip it. A few things I wish someone told me on day one:

1. "As-is" doesn't mean "as bad as you think"

Most auction cars are as-is with no warranty, but that doesn't mean they're all wrecked or hiding disasters. A huge chunk of auction inventory is trade-ins from franchise dealers that just didn't fit their retail lot — clean title, clean history, priced to move fast. The trick is knowing which lots are dealer trade-ins vs. fleet/repo, since the risk profile is totally different.

2. Buy fees eat margin faster than people expect

Buyer premiums, transport, and recon costs can quietly eat 10-15% of your upside if you don't price them in before you bid, not after. Always model your all-in cost BEFORE you place a max bid, not after you win.

3. The best deals move in the first 10 minutes of a live auction

Sitting and watching isn't a strategy — by the time a "steal" is obvious to everyone, it's already gone. Set your max bid ahead of time based on comps, not vibes in the moment.

Started BidMotors to give flippers and resellers a straightforward place to bid live on real wholesale inventory without the usual runaround. If you're in the reselling game, happy to answer questions on sourcing/pricing in the comments.
