The $149 test every homeowner should run before listing their house (or just for their own sanity)
Started Blast Off Pressure Washing this year and the biggest thing I've learned booking driveway and siding jobs: most people underestimate how much dirt is actually load-bearing on their curb appeal.
A few things I tell every new customer before we show up:
Concrete driveways yellow/green before they look 'dirty.' Algae and mildew build up in the pores of concrete long before it's visually obvious. By the time it looks bad, it's been growing for months.
Vinyl siding is the easiest 10x visual win in home maintenance. A single pass removes years of grime for way less than repainting, and it's usually done in under 2 hours.
Never let anyone pressure wash your roof shingles with a wand. High-pressure on asphalt shingles strips the granules and shortens roof life. Soft-washing (low pressure + cleaning solution) is the only safe method — ask before you hire anyone.
Wood decks need sealing within 48 hours of a wash, or you're just opening the grain back up to the weather.
If you're a homeowner: walk outside right now and look at your driveway edges where it meets the grass. If it's darker than the center, that's biological growth, not just dirt — and it spreads.
Happy to answer questions here if you're trying to DIY it or just want a second opinion on a quote you got. Not every job needs a pro.
