The 3 mistakes every beginner makes in the gym (and how to fix them)

Been coaching beginners for years. The same 3 things come up every time:

1. Program hopping

You start a PPL split from YouTube, switch to a bro split your friend does, then try Starting Strength, all within 6 weeks. None of them work because you never gave any of them a chance.

Pick ONE program. Run it for 12 weeks minimum. Progressive overload. Track your weights. That's it.

2. Ignoring nutrition

You can't out-train a bad diet. I don't care how hard you go. If you're trying to lose weight, you need to be in a caloric deficit. Period. No supplement, no workout split, no amount of cardio changes that.

Start by tracking what you eat for 1 week. Just awareness alone changes behavior.

3. Going too hard, too fast

Ego lifting, 6 days a week from day one, running yourself into the ground. Then you burn out by week 3 and quit.

Start with 3 days a week. Full body. Master the basics — squat, hinge, press, pull, carry. Build consistency first, intensity second.

If this resonates, Body Blueprint is where I coach beginners through all of this — structured programs, community, and real guidance. No fluff.
