School taught you the cut. Nobody taught you the second appointment.
Most student barbers and hairstylists I talk to think they have a skill problem.
They don't. They have a Tuesday-at-2pm problem.
Walk-ins belong to the shop. Your book belongs to you. If you are waiting for the front door to save you after graduation, you will sit empty.
The version that works is boring:
A list of 20 people who already know your name
One service, one price, one window this week
A message that asks for a time, not for "support"
The rebook before they stand up
Charge a real number. $15 haircuts train people to leave when you grow up. Put $30–$40 on the menu for a cut and say it out loud.
If you cannot name a price, nobody can book you.
That's the whole game in year one. Skill gets you referred. A system gets you booked.
