The 3 things Big 4 firms actually look for in data analyst candidates

I've been through the Big 4 hiring process and talked to dozens of consultants at Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG. Here's what most career advice gets wrong:

1. They don't care about your Python skills (at first)

Every fresh grad lists Python, SQL, and Tableau on their resume. That's table stakes. What separates candidates is their ability to frame a business problem. In case interviews, they want to see structured thinking, not code.

2. Networking isn't optional — it's the actual application

Over 60% of Big 4 hires come through referrals. Cold applying on their careers page is like screaming into a void. The real strategy is connecting with analysts already there, on LinkedIn and at campus events.

3. Your resume needs to speak "consulting"

Big 4 firms want to see impact framed as business outcomes, not technical tasks. "Built a dashboard" means nothing. "Identified $200K in cost savings through supply chain analysis" gets interviews.

I put together a complete playbook covering all of this — resume templates, case prep frameworks, networking scripts, and insider tips from actual Big 4 consultants. Built specifically for fresh grads.
