Welcome to Build Your BankRoll: The 1-to-5 Unit Bankroll Sizing Rules

Welcome to Build Your BankRoll! Consistent betting success is about managing risk before picking winners. Here is our core framework for long-term growth:

  1. Unit Discipline: Never wager more than 1% to 3% of your total bankroll on any single standard play.

  2. Variance Survival: Downswings happen to every bettor. Sticking to proven mathematical edge is what compounds capital over 100+ bets.

  3. Daily Process: Follow our posted lines, check injury and line movement data, and tune into our livestreams for full breakdowns.

Bankroll Staking Rules: The 1 to 3 Unit Strategy

If you are in here trying to grow a real bankroll, this is the first thing you lock in.

We do not chase. We do not go all-in on a “lock.” We size every play off units so one bad night cannot wipe you out.

The rule

  • 1 unit is your standard play. This is most of what we post.

  • 2 units is only when the number and the matchup both line up.

  • 3 units is rare. Treat it as a max. If you are thinking 4, you are already off the plan.

How to set your unit

Pick a number you can lose 10 times in a row without changing how you live. For most people that is 1% of the bankroll. So a $1,000 roll means $10 a unit. A $5,000 roll means $50 a unit.

Do not mix “this is my rent money” with “this is my unit.” If it stings to lose 3 units, your unit is too big.

How we play it

  • Write the unit size down before you bet. Same size all week unless the bankroll actually moved.

  • Track wins and losses in units, not dollars. Dollars mess with your head.

  • After a heater, do not jump to 3 units on everything. After a cold streak, do not “get it back” with a 3-unit dart.

What gets you kicked off the plan

Parlaying your whole roll. Doubling after a loss. Betting a pick you did not size before kickoff.

Stay at 1 to 3 units, stay in the game, and the bankroll actually has a chance to grow. If you have questions on sizing, drop them under this post.
