The 3 things every first-time founder gets wrong (and how to fix them)

I've talked to hundreds of first-time founders. The same three mistakes show up every single time.

1. Building before validating

You don't need to code anything. You need 10 people willing to pay. Talk to potential customers before writing a single line of code. Pre-sell the outcome, not the product.

2. Pricing too low

First-time founders undercharge because they're scared nobody will pay. Here's the truth: if your product solves a real problem, people will pay real money. Start at the price that makes you slightly uncomfortable. That's closer to the right number.

3. Trying to do everything alone

You don't need a co-founder, but you need a community. Other founders who get it. People who've been through the same problems and can tell you which ones actually matter.

That's exactly why I built Built Different — a weekly newsletter and founder community for people building their first startup. Real playbooks. Real tactics. No theory.

If that sounds like what you need, come join us.
