The 3 marketing mistakes killing most local businesses (and it's not 'not enough ads')
I review small business marketing for a living, and the same 3 mistakes show up over and over. None of them are about spending more on ads.
1. They market to "everyone"
If your offer is for anyone, it converts for no one. The businesses that grow fastest can describe their exact customer in one sentence — age, problem, budget. Once you know that, your messaging writes itself.
2. They lead with features, not outcomes
"We use premium ingredients" vs "Get a haircut that gets compliments within a day." Customers buy the outcome. Audit your last 5 posts or ads — are you talking about you, or about them?
3. No reason to come back
Getting a customer once is the easy part. Most local businesses have zero system for repeat visits — no follow-up text, no loyalty offer, no reason to return next month. That's where the real revenue is hiding.
If you want a second pair of eyes on your specific business — what's working, what's not, and what to fix first — that's literally what I do. Send me your business details and I'll send back a straight breakdown, no calls needed.
