Why I Teach MMA Fighters to Move Like Skiers

Most cage movement coaching is just "circle left, circle right, don't get backed up."


That's like telling a ski racer to "go fast and turn." Useless.


I spent years studying how skiers control speed, pressure, and direction on unstable surfaces at high velocity. Then I started seeing the exact same mechanics in the cage:


  • Edge pressure = how you load your feet to push off in any direction

  • Rotational separation = how your upper body faces your opponent while your feet move independently

  • Carved vs. skidded turns = smooth calculated movement vs. emergency scrambles

  • Fall line control = owning the center of the octagon


The physics are identical. A carved turn on a ski slope and a lateral cage cut use the same biomechanical chain.
