3 things most homeowners get wrong about exterior paint jobs
Been running Caldwell Painting Co. for a while now, and the same mistakes keep costing people money:
Painting over dirty/chalky siding. If you can wipe residue off with your hand, paint will not bond right — it'll peel within a year. Always wash first.
Skipping primer on bare wood or patched drywall. One coat of primer saves you a second full coat of finish paint later. It's cheaper up front.
Painting in direct afternoon sun. Latex paint dries too fast in high heat, which causes lap marks and poor adhesion. Early morning or late afternoon is the move.
