The one Canva habit that made my posters look 10x more professional
When I started designing posters in Canva, every design felt "fine" but never actually good. The fix wasn't a new template or a paid plugin — it was slowing down on ONE thing: contrast hierarchy.
Most beginner posters have everything competing for attention — big bold headline, big bold subtext, big bold CTA, busy background. Nothing wins because everything is shouting.
Here's the fix I use on every single design now:
Pick ONE focal point (usually the product or the headline, never both)
Everything else gets scaled down or pushed to a muted color
Only ONE element gets your accent/brand color — the CTA or the price
Whitespace is not empty space, it's what makes the focal point readable
That's it. No fancy tools, just restraint.
I actually recorded myself building 5 real posters from scratch at real speed (no cuts) applying exactly this, if anyone wants to see the process end to end and build alongside me: whop.com/canva-design-tutorials
