5 Parts Every Mechanic Should Always Have in Stock

After years in the auto parts game, I've seen the same pattern: workshops lose money not because of bad work, but because of downtime waiting for parts.

Here are 5 parts that should always be on your shelf:

1. Brake pads (universal fit range)

The #1 most replaced part. If a car comes in for anything, there's a 40% chance it also needs brake pads. Keep a range of ceramic and semi-metallic in common sizes.

2. Oil filters

They're cheap, they're small, and every single service needs one. Stock the top 10 filter sizes for your region's most common vehicles and you'll cover 80% of jobs.

3. Spark plugs

Easy upsell during a routine service. "While we're in there, let's swap the plugs too." Costs you almost nothing to stock, adds real revenue.

4. Serpentine belts

When these go, customers are stranded. Having the right belt in stock means same-day repair instead of "come back Thursday." That's how you build a reputation.

5. Wheel bearings

The telltale hum that every driver eventually hears. These fail more often than people think, and the markup is solid.

The key isn't just having parts — it's having the RIGHT parts so you never turn away a paying customer.

We stock all of these and more at wholesale prices.
