Why I split my playlist business into 4 mood-based subs instead of one big library

Been building playlist subscriptions for a while and here's the thing nobody tells you: a single "all genres" playlist dies fast. People don't want a library, they want a mood on demand.

So instead of one bloated playlist, I split it into 4 focused monthly subs:

  • Motivational Vibes — for the grind, goal-chasing energy

  • Rap Heat — freshest bars, curated monthly, no filler

  • Chill Lofi Flow — study/work/unwind background music

  • Workout Pump — high-energy training soundtrack

Each one is $4.99/mo, has its own chat + monthly drop feed. Why separate products instead of tiers on one product?

  1. Clarity converts better. "Buy the workout playlist" is a much easier yes than "buy access to our playlist library."

  2. Stacking revenue. A single user might subscribe to 2-3 of these depending on their day — that's not possible with one flat subscription.

  3. Community per vibe. The people in the Rap Heat chat want totally different conversations than the people in Chill Lofi Flow. Segmenting keeps engagement high in each.

If you're thinking about a content subscription business, my advice: don't build one catch-all offer. Pick the specific moments in someone's day you want to own, and build a focused product for each one.
