You spend all week grinding to drive weekend traffic, only to pull the Sunday night POS report and realize food and labor costs completely ate your margin.

That sinking feeling in your stomach is all too familiar. You thought you had a profitable weekend, but high waste, creeping supplier prices, and unmanaged prep left you working for free.

Imagine looking at your daily numbers and actually knowing your exact margins in real-time—no nasty end-of-week surprises, just predictable profit.

What is one menu item you suspect is losing you money right now?

Your bank balance looks great, so you feel confident walking into the upcoming board meeting. Then you remember that half of that cash came from annual upfront subscriptions—and none of it has been properly deferred under ASC 606.

Suddenly, your strong quarter looks very different on an accrual basis, and the board is going to ask tough questions about true burn rate and runway.

Running a tech company shouldn't mean playing hide-and-seek with your own revenue. Imagine looking at financial dashboards that separate cash in the bank from actual earned revenue, giving you total clarity before anyone else asks.

How do you currently track your deferred revenue without second-guessing your numbers?

The #1 bookkeeping mistake I see solo entrepreneurs make

The #1 reason solo entrepreneurs get burned at tax time isn't bad luck — it's "I'll categorize it later."

I've done bookkeeping for a lot of freelancers and consultants, and the pattern is always the same: transactions pile up uncategorized for months, then March hits and it's a scramble to reconstruct what a $340 charge from October actually was. By then you've forgotten, so it gets miscategorized (or missed entirely) — and that's real money left on the table in missed deductions, or worse, a headache in an audit.

A few things that actually move the needle if you're doing your own books right now:

  1. Reconcile monthly, not annually. If you're only looking at your books once a year, you're not managing your business — you're doing archaeology.

  2. Separate business and personal spending completely. One card, one account, minimum. Mixing them is the single biggest source of bookkeeping chaos I see.

  3. "Tax-ready" isn't just a category label. It means your P&L and balance sheet are accurate enough that your accountant (or you) can file without doing weeks of cleanup first.

This is exactly the gap we built Sacoya Bookkeeping to close — done-for-you monthly bookkeeping so your books are always clean and tax-ready, not just at tax time. If you're a freelancer or consultant who'd rather spend that time on clients than categorizing transactions, happy to help.
