Collect these 7 things before you design a homepage
Most freelance web projects stall in the same place: you have a kickoff, then you wait. Copy is in email. Logos are in WhatsApp. Photos never arrive. You start designing anyway and redo it twice.
Before you open Figma, collect:
Business basics — name, one-sentence offer, location, contact details
Services and pricing — what they sell, in their words, not yours
Brand assets — logo files, colors, fonts, anything that already exists
Photos — product, team, space. Note what’s missing instead of pretending it isn’t
Testimonials — names, quotes, permission to use them
Team — who appears on the site, titles, headshots
Must-have pages — home, about, services, contact, plus anything they swore was “simple”
If any of those is blank, that’s a follow-up, not a design problem.
I built a free demo of this workflow with a fictional client so you can see the gaps without chasing a real one. Join, run it once, and tell me what you’d change.
