Why most basketball clip pages plateau at 10K views (and how to break past it)
Been building a basketball clipping crew for a while now, and the pattern is always the same: 90% of clippers plateau at 5-10K views per post and never figure out why. A few things that actually move the needle:
1. The first 1.5 seconds decide everything. Don't open on a wide shot or a slow build-up. Open on the moment right before the highlight — the crossover, the gather step, the release. If someone doesn't stop scrolling in 1.5 seconds, the algorithm buries you regardless of how good the rest of the clip is.
2. Sound design > music choice. Everyone obsesses over finding the "right song." What actually works is layering crowd noise / sneaker squeaks under the track at low volume — it makes the clip feel live instead of edited over generic audio.
3. Caption the moment, not the play. "He did NOT just do that 😭" outperforms "Kyrie crossover vs Suns" every time. Context-setting captions kill curiosity. Reaction captions create it.
4. Post cadence beats production value. A rough cut posted daily will outperform a polished cut posted weekly. The algorithm rewards accounts that post consistently far more than it rewards individual clip quality.
5. Repurpose across all three platforms with native formatting. Same clip, but re-export captions/pacing per platform — Reels rewards fast cuts, Shorts rewards slightly longer holds on the payoff moment, TikTok rewards raw/unpolished energy.
