I've written hooks for hundreds of pieces of content across TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter/X. Here's what I've learned:
Your content doesn't get judged by how good it is. It gets judged by how good the first 3 seconds are.
The best creators in the world aren't necessarily smarter or more talented — they just know how to open. They understand the psychology of the scroll.
Here's a framework that works every time:
Pattern interrupt → Say something unexpected. "I lost $50K because of a single sentence" hits harder than "Here's my business story."
Specificity → Vague = skip. Specific = stop. Numbers, names, timelines. "I grew from 200 to 87,000 followers in 6 weeks using one hook format" is un-skippable.
Open a loop → Give them half the story. Make them need the rest. The human brain cannot resist an incomplete pattern.
Most creators spend 90% of their time on the content and 10% on the hook. Flip that ratio. The hook IS the content — everything else is just the payoff.
If you want hooks custom-built for your content, that's exactly what we do at Shocking Hook. One hook, a 3-pack, or the full treatment with AI video and voiceover.
Stop getting scrolled past.
