The loneliness epidemic is real — here's what actually helped me
I spent most of my early 20s surrounded by people but feeling completely disconnected. Group chats were active. My calendar was full. But I'd go home every night feeling like nobody actually knew me.
Sound familiar?
Here's what I learned after years of figuring this out the hard way:
Loneliness isn't about being alone. It's about the gap between the connections you have and the ones you need. You can have 500 followers and zero people who'd check on you if you went quiet for a week.
Small, uncomfortable actions compound. The first time I texted someone "hey, I've been going through it lately" instead of "lol I'm good" — that changed everything. Vulnerability isn't weakness. It's the unlock.
Most people are waiting for someone else to go first. That person sitting alone at the coffee shop? They want to talk. Your coworker who always eats lunch solo? They're hoping someone invites them. Be the one who goes first.
I built The Connection Lab because I wish this community existed when I needed it. Weekly challenges, real conversations, and a group of people who actually give a damn about building meaningful relationships.
