Why 90% of clipping campaigns burn budget with zero views

Ran a few Content Rewards campaigns for early-stage founders now, and the pattern is always the same: the campaign fails not because the reward rate is too low, but because of three setup mistakes.

1. No minimum payout floor. Set it to $0 and you'll spend your review time on 200-view clips instead of the ones actually working. Set a floor (e.g. $6 min payout on a $3/1k rate = 2,000 views minimum) and your queue becomes 10x more signal, less noise.

2. Vague "Available content" section. Clippers aren't mind readers. A campaign brief that just says "make good clips" gets you generic content. The campaigns that pop give clippers a shared doc with your best hooks, a "do this / don't do this" list, and raw footage links up front.

3. No max payout cap. One viral clip can eat your entire budget on a single creator, starving out everyone else. Cap it so your budget spreads across more creators — more creators means more shots at going viral, not fewer.

I run this setup process for founders who don't want to manage 30+ creator submissions a week themselves — happy to break down how I structure a first campaign if you're about to launch one.
