The hire that actually unsticks a 2–10 person agency

Most agency owners hire another closer when the real bottleneck is ops.

If you're still in every client Slack, every revision round, and every "quick call," adding sales just dumps more work on you.

The first hire that scales you is the person who owns delivery. Before you post the job, give them three things:

  1. A written scope template — what is in, what is out, what extra work costs.

  2. A weekly client update format — so you are not the status report.

  3. Authority to say no to out-of-scope work without asking you first.

Until those three exist, hiring more people just multiplies chaos.

If your calendar is still full of client work you already have a team for, you don't have a sales problem. You have an ownership problem.
