Most ecommerce AI projects fail because they automate the wrong work
I keep seeing the same pattern.
A brand doing $10k–$100k a month buys an AI tool. They point it at product descriptions or a chatbot FAQ. Two weeks later nothing in the business actually moved.
The expensive work is not the copy. It's the exception pile.
Returns that aren't a template. Tickets that aren't a FAQ. Supplier delays. Listing errors that only show up after a paid ad spends. The founder is still in Slack at 11pm because those don't have a script.
If you want AI to pay for itself, don't start with "what can ChatGPT write." Start with: what did I personally touch 20 times this week that was not a decision, just a handoff.
That's the first place an agent belongs. Everything else is a toy.
If you're sitting on a pile like that, say what it is. I'll tell you whether it's actually agent-shaped or you're about to waste a month.
