The #1 Corner Crossover Mistake That's Costing You Speed

{"type":"doc","content":[{"type":"paragraph","content":[{"type":"text","text":"I've coached hundreds of push athletes transitioning to short track corners, and nearly every single one makes the same mistake: they lead with the foot instead of the hip."}]},{"type":"paragraph","content":[{"type":"text","text":"Here's what happens. You enter the corner, you know you need to cross over, so your brain tells your right foot to step over the left. Seems logical. But the moment you lead with the foot, you lose your center of mass over the support leg. Your upper body drifts upright, your blade angle flattens, and you bleed speed through the entire apex."}]},{"type":"heading","attrs":{"level":3},"content":[{"type":"text","text":"The Fix"}]},{"type":"paragraph","content":[{"type":"text","text":"Initiate the crossover from the hip, not the foot. Think about driving your right hip over and across your left knee before your right blade ever leaves the ice. This keeps your center of mass low and inside the turn, which means your blade angle stays aggressive and you maintain — or even gain — speed through the corner."}]},{"type":"heading","attrs":{"level":3},"content":[{"type":"text","text":"A Simple Dryland Test"}]},{"type":"paragraph","content":[{"type":"text","text":"Stand in a low athletic position. Without moving your feet, shift your right hip laterally over your left foot. Feel your weight transfer completely onto that left leg. THAT is the load position you need before the crossover initiates. If you can't hold that position for 5 seconds without falling, your lateral stability isn't ready for high-speed crossovers — and no amount of ice time will fix it."}]},{"type":"paragraph","content":[{"type":"text","text":"This is exactly the kind of progression I break down step by step in my Corner Crossover Mastery course — from dryland foundations all the way through race-pace corner strategy. If you're serious about fixing your corners, the course is built for you."}]}]}
