5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me When I First Believed
When I first came to faith, I was excited but honestly had no idea what I was doing. I didn't grow up in church. I didn't know the difference between the Old and New Testament. I just knew something had changed inside me.
Looking back, here are 5 things I wish someone had told me on day one:
1. You don't need to understand everything right now.
Faith is a walk, not a quiz. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and let Jesus' words speak to you before trying to decode Revelation.
2. Doubt doesn't mean you're failing.
Every honest believer has wrestled with questions. Doubt is often the doorway to deeper faith, not the exit.
3. Find people who are a few steps ahead of you.
You don't need a theology degree โ you need a community. People who pray with you, check on you, and remind you who God says you are.
4. Your past doesn't disqualify you.
Grace isn't just a word โ it's the foundation. You don't earn your way in. You were invited.
5. Consistency beats intensity.
5 minutes in the Word every day will change you more than a 3-hour Bible binge once a month. Show up daily. Even when you don't feel it.
