Most cubers plateau around 25-30 seconds because they're learning algorithms in the wrong order.
After coaching dozens of cubers through the Sub-20 barrier, here are the 3 algorithm categories that consistently make the biggest impact:
1. F2L Intuitive Cases (not algorithmic F2L)
Stop memorizing 41 F2L algorithms. Learn the 3 intuitive insertion patterns first. You'll solve F2L faster by understanding what you're doing rather than running on autopilot.
2. 2-Look OLL โ Full OLL (edges first)
The 7 edge-orientation cases are the highest ROI algorithms in speedcubing. Each one saves 2-4 seconds per solve compared to 2-look.
3. PLL Recognition Speed
Most cubers know full PLL but recognize cases slowly. The fix isn't more algorithms โ it's drilling recognition until you identify the case during AUF, not after.
The common mistake? Jumping straight to full OLL/PLL without nailing cross efficiency and F2L look-ahead first. You're optimizing the wrong phase.
If you're stuck between 20-30 seconds and want a structured path to Sub-20, that's exactly what we built CUB-MASTERY for.
