5 design mistakes killing your POD sales (and how to fix them)

Most print-on-demand stores fail not because of bad products — but because of bad design decisions. Here's what I see constantly:

1. Too much text on the design. The best-selling POD designs are visual-first. If your customer needs to squint to read your shirt, they're scrolling past it.

2. Ignoring the mockup. A design that looks fire on a flat canvas can look terrible on a t-shirt fold. Always preview on realistic mockups before listing.

3. Using trendy fonts everyone else uses. If you're using the same free Canva fonts as everyone else, your brand looks like everyone else. Invest in unique typography.

4. No color strategy. Your design needs to work on at least 3 shirt colors. If it only looks good on black, you're leaving money on the table.

5. Designing for yourself, not your customer. The #1 mistake. Your personal taste ≠ what sells. Study bestsellers in your niche before designing.

I create custom apparel designs for POD sellers who want to stand out. If you're tired of generic designs that don't convert, let's talk.
