I found a $12 Home Depot item reselling for $47 on Amazon — here's how to spot deals like this
Most people walk past clearance aisles without a second thought. Meanwhile, resellers are quietly turning those red-tag markdowns into 3-4x profit flips.
Here's the framework I use to find deals worth flipping:
1. The 3x Rule — If I can't sell it for at least 3x what I paid, I pass. Sounds aggressive but it accounts for fees, shipping, and the occasional return.
2. Check sold listings, not active listings — Everyone makes the mistake of looking at what items are listed for. That means nothing. Check what they actually sold for in the last 30 days.
3. Clearance ≠ always a deal — Just because it's 70% off doesn't mean there's resale demand. Some products are clearanced because nobody wants them. Always verify demand first.
4. Price errors are free money — Retailers mess up pricing more than you'd think. A $200 item accidentally listed for $23 happens weekly if you know where to look.
5. Stack cashback — Use cashback apps and credit card rewards on top of clearance prices. I regularly add an extra 5-10% margin just from cashback stacking.
I post deals like this daily inside ReStock Alerts. If you want the alerts delivered to you instead of hunting yourself, check it out.
